(Head office: Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture; CEO: Kenji Kawagoe; hereinafter referred to as "Factem") are pleased to announce that they have entered into a capital and business alliance with the aim of building a foundation for next-generation technology development by utilizing each other's technologies.
Piezo Sonic is a hardware startup company that develops, manufactures, and sells ultrasonic motors and robots . With investment from Factem, Piezo Sonic will work to strengthen its development capabilities in its areas of strength, such as strengthening its manufacturing capabilities for ultrasonic motors and autonomous guided robots (AMRs), and vacuum ultrasonic motors for use in semiconductor manufacturing equipment and space environment equipment.
Piezo Sonic's ultrasonic motors can maintain their position using friction even when the power is zero (when not energized or controlled). Since they do not use magnetic force during operation and do not emit magnetism, they are ideal motors for transport devices such as stages, positioning mechanisms for robots, and devices used in magnetic environments such as inside MRIs. As a product incorporating this motor, we have developed and are selling the AMR: Mighty series, which uses the running mechanism of lunar exploration rovers and can run on rough surfaces. In collaboration with Factem, we will work on the development of new technologies and functions in addition to the automatic transport of products and inspection samples and the digitalization of patrol work.
Factem is a company that can provide one-stop service from planning and designing factory automation equipment to manufacturing, installation, and after-sales service, and can also produce the entire line by utilizing the cooperative system with alliance partners . In recent years, the company has expanded its business by leveraging its strengths of knowledge and cutting-edge design technology as a pioneer in the industry, focusing on the rapidly growing secondary battery manufacturing line, including EV battery charge/discharge inspection equipment and its peripheral process equipment and logistics equipment .
Through this capital and business alliance, the two companies will work on new product development to create efficient and differentiated factory automation systems . In addition, they will begin joint development of the Mighty AMR, a renewable energy DC wireless charging type, with the aim of utilizing a DC-linked uncontrolled, prioritized, and highly efficient renewable energy utilization system for logistics within factories.
